Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama have released a new mixtape titled Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It, which you can listen to below.
With 13 songs, the project features Juicy J, Dave East, and Trinidad James, as well as longtime Snoop collaborators Kurupt and Daz Dillinger.
The mixtape also features cameos from singers October London and Jane Handcock, as well as some of the current talent on Death Row Records, the legendary West Coast label Snoop purchased earlier this year.
Rick Rock, Don Cannon, Nick Papz, Hollywood Cole, and even Snoop himself provide lowrider-friendly production behind the scenes (under his production alias Dr. Bombay).
However, as the title suggests, the mixtape’s primary purpose is to remind listeners that the 51-year-old rap icon and Gangsta Grillz general is still putting numbers on the board.
“I’ve traveled all over the world doing my thang-thang / Some say I’m the reason you all gangbang / I was taking faze full while you were in grade school / Crippin’ is international so now we get paid, fool,” Snoop Dogg raps on the thumping beat. “I’ll return the holla.”
Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama first announced Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It in September, when they posted an Instagram screenshot of themselves on a FaceTime call.
The duo have previously collaborated on Tha Blue Carpet Treatment (Tha Mixtape), The City is in Good Hands, and the That’s My Work series, as well as 2009’s “Day Dreaming” with Akon and T.I.
Snoop Dogg’s Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It is his second full-length release of 2022, following his 19th studio album Bacc On Death Row, which was released in February and featured Nas, T.I., DaBaby, and others.
Snoop recently announced that he and Dr. Dre are working on Missionary, the spiritual successor to 1993’s Doggystyle, which is set to be completed in November.
Meanwhile, DJ Drama has already released a number of Gangsta Grillz projects this year, including J. Cole and Dreamville’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, Jim Jones’ We Set the Trends, and Symba’s Results Take Time.
Mr. Thanksgiving is currently preparing to release Snofall with old friend Jeezy on Friday (October 21), as well as a new mixtape with Tory Lanez.
Drama’s storied Gangsta Grillz series has experienced a revival in recent years, thanks in part to Tyler, The Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost, which topped the Billboard 200 and won Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
