There will always be a period in hip-hop when the old school and the new school interact, and it frequently results in priceless moments. Eminem ran into a couple of his more recent rap contemporaries during Snoop Dogg’s ApeFest NFT performance, which was held in New York on Friday, June 24.

In the video posted online, Slim Shady and Tha Doggfather had just ended their performance when Slim Shady went backstage and ran into Cordae, a collaborator on “Parables” and “Killer.” Em unexpectedly encountered the Maryland rapper and gave him an embrace before making his way backstage.

Bobby Shmurda greeted the Detroit rap superstar by calling him “big buddy,” and he stood next to Cordae as they waited to meet. Em shook Bobby’s hand and gave him a bear hug as he grinned widely. Backstage, the 49-year-old MC met up with Dave East from New York and posed for a brief picture.

Although the new generation showed out at Snoop Dogg’s event, the OGs proved they’re still in charge. On the day of the NFT event, Snoop and Eminem dropped a surprise collaborative single called “From The D 2 LBC” along with an accompanying video.

“Took too long to reconnect with @snoopdogg you know we had to make a movie! http://Eminem.lnk.to/FromTheD2TheLBC #FromTheDToTheLBC #curtaincall2 @BoredApeYC,” Eminem tweeted while promoting the song, which appears to be the first taste of his upcoming Curtain Call 2 compilation.

The song “From The D 2 LBC” was released months after Snoop Dogg and Eminem had a falling out over the Long Beach native leaving him off his list of the top 10 rappers. Fortunately, the two have made up after Em made a little swipe at Snoop on the song “Zeus” off his 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By: Side B.
