Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s lavish Italian wedding ceremony has been criticized for “mocking” Catholicism.

The reality star said “I do” in a white Dolce & Gabbana mini dress with a dramatic veil emblazoned with the image of the Virgin Mary – a nod to a tattoo her new husband has inked on the top of his head.

While Barker, 46, has spoken publicly about his Catholic faith, it is unclear whether Kardashian, 43, is a member. However, over the years, the Poosh founder has shared numerous texts about faith, quotes, and Bible passages via her Instagram Stories.

“Kinda strange that Kourtney [sic] wedding has this catholic ‘aesthetic’ like the Virgin Mary on her dress and wedding veil?” Someone said on Twitter.

“I just really feel like Travis and Kourtney [sic] wedding is mocking the catholic religion?” said another. They don’t represent religious people at all, and they feel mocking. I’m not a Catholic, but it doesn’t sit well with me.”

Another supporter expressed their “joy” for the newlyweds, but stated that “liturgical garments used during mass are not something fashionable.”

One person even stated that Kardashian’s short gown “offended” them.

“I’m going to say it right now. As a Catholic, Kourtney Kardashian’s use of the Blessed Mother in her wedding weekend outfit(s) was extremely offensive to me… “I have every right to be offended,” they wrote on Twitter.

Barker, for his part, previously told Vice he was raised Catholic.

“I got the Virgin Mary tattooed on my foreman when I was 18, 19. And I was brought up Catholic,” he said in a November 2015 interview.

“I definitely pray; I believe in God. I definitely think I was blessed … So I’m not at church every day and I’m not pushing religion on people. But I believe in God and I pray and my kids pray.”

The couple said “I do” for the third time in a lavish ceremony over the weekend.

The couple was also chastised for allegedly allowing their wedding to provide “free publicity” to the scandal-plagued fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana.

“I love Kourtney and Travis, but Dolce & Gabbana dressing the entire fam for the wedding is not it,” one person argued, referring to the fact that the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan was dressed in looks from the Italian label.

“Dolce & Gabbana has been trying to revive their brand for problematic body shaming and racist comments,” another added. So this display is a real steal for the Kardashians and a huge media coup for D&G.”
