Willow Smith recently forgave her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, for downplaying her anxiety struggles.

In the most recent episode of Red Table Talk, the Whip My Hair star shared with guest Ireland Baldwin how difficult it was for her to talk about her experiences with the disorder as a young woman.

“It was difficult. She didn’t seem to understand my anxiety when I was younger. Because she had witnessed the deaths of her friends as a child – she had been through so much that my problems seemed…(smaller) to her “She spoke up. “As a child, this was extremely frustrating. Because I was thinking, ‘How can you not notice my internal and emotional turmoil?'”

Willow went on to describe how she and her mother sat down and had a serious discussion about the issue, and Jada admitted that she had only recently discovered that she, too, struggled with anxious feelings.

“Recently, we had a talk, and she was like, ‘I never knew that I actually experienced anxiety,'” the 21-year-old continued. “And she was pushing it down for so many years, like she had no idea. So, I had to forgive her a little bit for being like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah… I get it, but it’s really not that bad.'”
