Jelly Roll blasts the music industry, pledging to expose the “slimy” music business and accused big labels of purchasing false streams. “This whole thing is smoke and mirrors, y’all,” the celebrity said on social media.

Jelly Roll recently went to the old Twitter to express his plans to expose “how slimy the music business is.” His statement states that fellow rapper and songwriter Russ, who went viral earlier this year for his accusations about the music business, was completely true.

“Learned a lot about how slimy the music business is this week,” wrote Jelly Roll. “Don’t worry, you know I’ll reveal it shortly. This is just smoke and mirrors, y’all. “Everything Russ is saying is true!”

Earlier this year, Russ, a New Jersey native, appeared on Andrew Schulz’s podcast “Flagrant,” accusing large record labels and corporations of purchasing false streams.

“I learned that the whole industry is ran by […] a couple people,” Russ told me. “You recognize certain individuals from Spotify, Apple, Rhythm Radio, and Urban Radio…” “You can run the entire thing with four people.”

“Album goes to #1, but they can’t fill a show,” Russ stated. “So, the math isn’t working. […] The fact is that labels are paying money [on false streams] – devil’s advocate, they are considering it as a marketing expenditure.”

Russ said that, although he had probed several music business insiders about the logistics, none had revealed to him “the mechanics of how they actually fake the streams.”

Jelly Roll (actual name Jason Bradley DeFord) previously teamed with Russ on the song “Really Gone.” It’s unclear how the rapper-turned-singer plans to expose Russ’ accusations about the music business.
