On Monday morning, Ryan Wesley Routh, the man who is suspected of trying to kill Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course on Sunday, appeared in court for the first time.

According to CNN, Routh was accused on two counts: one for having a gun while a felon and another for having a gun with its serial number obliterated.

Routh is scheduled to be arraigned on September 30 and will return to court on Monday, September 23, for a formal detention hearing.

Even if more charges are anticipated, they were not disclosed. The attempted assassin on Sunday reportedly did not fire a firearm.

As previously reported, the purported attempt on Trump’s life was foiled when a Secret Service agent fired a shot in the direction of the weapon that was sticking through a fence some 300 to 500 yards distant from the golf course. The suspect did not discharge his weapon. Routh allegedly left the scene before being apprehended by police.

Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to kill Trump for the first time back in July, but the Secret Service shot and killed Crooks at the site.
