Hurricane Hilary prevented baseball from being played at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, but the historic field might have hosted a swimming meet instead.
The squall pummeled Southern California with so much rain as it approached Los Angeles that the ballpark was submerged.
Thankfully, it looked the diamond and its surrounding seats withstood the bad weather, as seen in video taken from above the downtown stadium, but the surrounding parking lot was seen to be several feet under water.
There were no scheduling conflicts because the Dodgers shifted their Sunday afternoon game against the Marlins to Saturday. However, it’s not yet apparent whether the weather will have an influence on L.A.’s next round of games at Dodger Stadium next week.
Regarding Hilary, it’s still pouring rain in parts of the southwestern United States, leading to significant flooding on roads and significant structure damage elsewhere.
Fortunately, the storm is expected to pass later on Monday.
