Shannon, the daughter of “Good Times” actor John Amos, is shedding tears with his admirers after learning of her renowned father’s passing.

Following the news of the actor’s death on Tuesday, the medicinal healer—whom John welcomed alongside his ex-wife Noel Mickelson—released a statement in which she claimed she and her family found out about it more than a month later.

Shannon said that she was “without words” after learning the “heartbreaking” news that her father had passed away on August 21. She included a video of herself grinning and joking with John in her post.

She went on… “We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you.”

Shannon acknowledged that she was having trouble with the circumstance, even though she wanted to be able to honor John’s life and the legacy he left behind.

She continued, saying, “We are finding it difficult to deal with the tidal surge of feelings and doubts that have followed his death. Even so, there is some little comfort in the knowledge that my father is at last free.”

Tuesday saw the announcement of John’s passing by his son, K.C. Amos, who made the sad news public in a press release. Over the past year, Shannon and K.C. have been embroiled in a contentious family dispute that began when Shannon accused her brother of elder abuse while John was in their care.

At the time, K.C. and John both refuted the claim.

Nevertheless, during the course of the previous year, numerous authorities across the nation looked into Shannon’s allegations; however, the case was ultimately dismissed for lack of proof.

But K.C. was detained in July 2023 on suspicion of making threats against Shannon, which made her fear for her life.

The siblings’ current situation is unknown, but back in December, John expressed his optimism that his estranged children will be able to resolve their differences.

Known for his roles in “Good Times,” “Roots,” and “The West Wing,” John was eighty-four years old when he passed away.
