50 Cent has won a $1 billion lawsuit filed by a former drug kingpin over his smash series Power.
Cory “Ghost” Holland said that 50 used his life story for the plot of the STARZ show. He first filed the billion-dollar lawsuit in 2021, naming co-creator Courtney Kemp, STARZ, and Lionsgate, as well as 50 Cent. Holland claimed that he described his life narrative on a 2007 CD called Blasphemy, which he sent to Kemp’s father. He believed it would help him find a respectable method to make a living and get out of the drug trade.
Judge Analisa Torres ultimately sided with 50, ruling that the show never directly refers to Holland, as required for a defamation action. She also stated that other parallels are simply coincidences. In a separate case, Holland accused 50 Cent and his colleagues of harassing and threatening him by appearing and playing a song near his home.

Following the alleged encounter, AllHipHop got a letter from Holland, telling 50 not to threaten him again. It states, “If a motherfker is killed because your motherfking client threatens me and my family, file a motherfking motion for that. I’m not playing with your motherfking client anymore; the next time he or anyone he sends pulls up, f**k the litigation.”
Holland lost the case as well, with Torres ruling: “There is no indication that this conduct constituted a threat, much less a ‘imminent threat of harmful contact’ as required for an assault claim.”
