According to a Bloomberg story, Apple may not release its new AI features for the iPhone along with the initial release of iOS 18 and the anticipated September debut of the iPhone 16.

As it attempts to get the rollout just right, the company is reportedly planning to introduce Apple Intelligence alongside iOS 18.1 in October.

During its June Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled its initial AI features, showcasing ChatGPT integration, AI-powered image generation, and an enhanced Siri. With its in-the-box updating machine dubbed Presto, Apple may eventually send out the upgrade to new smartphones in stores, even though these features might not be available with a new iPhone 16 purchased at launch.

Apple Intelligence: all upcoming AI features for the Mac and iPhone
Bloomberg claims that some of these AI features will still be available with the release of the iOS 18.1 and iPad 18.1 developer betas as early as this week, despite Apple’s custom of not releasing the betas for its follow-up software updates before the public release of the initial version.

Developers may be able to test Apple’s AI features and find flaws before they affect everyone and spread to other platforms like the Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV by using the early rollout.

But not every AI function that Apple unveiled at WWDC will be accessible in version 18.1. It might take until the spring of 2025 to see an onscreen aware Siri that can do tasks within apps.
