Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden after the president announced on Sunday that he will withdraw from the 2024 presidential run, and he has already shifted his focus to attacking Vice President Kamala Harris in his latest attack ad after Biden picked her as his successor.

The storm over the president had been brewing since his disastrous performance at the first presidential debate in Atlanta a month ago, which sent his party into a tailspin and prompted a wave of Democratic lawmakers, strategists, donors, and pundits to call for the 81-year-old to step down in favor of a younger nominee.

Now that he has done so, the Republican presidential candidate stated on Truth Social that Biden “was not fit to run for president, and is certainly not fit to serve.”

He said further: “We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly.”

JD Vance, Trump’s running partner, also called on Biden to resign from the White House.

Meanwhile, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is going before the House Oversight Committee to address questions about the security flaws that led to Trump’s shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, nine days earlier.
