Billie Eilish has surpassed The Weeknd to become Spotify’s most-streamed monthly artist, the streaming giant announced on Monday.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Billie Eilish has now surpassed The Weeknd as Spotify’s most-streamed monthly artist, the streaming giant revealed on Monday (August 19). The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, expressed support for Eilish on social media last week as she approached his record. She was on the verge of being Spotify’s most-streamed artist, with less than a million listeners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She surpassed the 100 million monthly listener mark in June, becoming the third and youngest artist to do so, trailing only The Weeknd and Taylor Swift. Eight of Eilish’s songs (out of 82) are in Spotify’s Billions Club, a collection of songs with over one billion streams: “Lovely” with Khalid, “Bad Guy,” “When the Party’s Over,” “Everything I Wanted,” “Ocean Eyes,” “Happier Than Ever,” “Idontwannabeyouanymore,” and “Bury a Friend.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s worth noting that Billie Eilish is only two tracks behind Taylor Swift, who has eleven songs on the Spotify Billions Club playlist. Swift has a large repertoire, which makes Eilish’s accomplishment even more astounding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, was released in April and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. All ten of the album’s songs debuted in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Both Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and her sophomore effort, Happier Than Ever, spent three weeks atop the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 22-year-old songstress is having a great summer with Charli XCX’s song “Guess,” on which she appears. Billie Eilish is also the youngest two-time Oscar winner, as her song “What Was I Made For?” appears on the Barbie film soundtrack. Even before her most recent album was released, she had been steadily increasing in popularity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
