Aerosmith has formally retired from touring following the discovery of frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal ailment, from which he will not fully recover.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Aerosmith has announced their official retirement from touring following frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal ailment. The band made the statement on Friday, August 2, nearly a year after Tyler, 76, cracked his larynx during a September 2023 gig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith,” the band’s statement says. “Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark ignited and has burned for over five decades. Some of you have been with us from the beginning, and you are all responsible for making rock ‘n’ roll history.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyler is claimed to be “doing much better,” according to his daughter Mia during an interview with People in February, but the band stated that “full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument unlike any other,” writes Aerosmith. “He has worked relentlessly for months to restore his voice to pre-injury levels. We’ve seen him struggle, despite having the best medical team on his side. Unfortunately, it appears that a full recovery from his vocal lesion is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking, tough, but necessary choice as a band of brothers to retire from touring.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notice also states that customers who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.
